MRTV from the Ministry of Information

  • Launched in 1980.
  • The first and the state TV channel in Myanmar.
  • The programs of MRTV reflect the government policy.
  • Started with a one hour a day trail evening program which was extended to two hours a day and then extended gradually to air in the morning and evening (afternoon transmission in the weekends).

MRTV 3 from the Ministry of Information

  • The second TV channel in Myanmar aims at the international audience.
  • Received in 126 countries and transmitted from Thaicom-3 C Band Global beam.
  • Viewers from Myanmar can tune in from 9.00 A.M. to 10.00 A.M.

MRTV 4 from the Ministry of Information

  • The Free to Air channel aims at the local audience is officially launched in May 2007.
  • Started with the 6 hours transmission; three transmission in a day.
  • Since April 11, MRTV4 program is extended to 20 hours program from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m.
  • Viewers in Yangon and Mandalay could tune in, with a VHF antenna and UHF antenna respectively.

MWD from the Ministry of Defense

  • Run by the Psychological Warfare Dept and launched on 27 March 1995.
  • Also aims at the local audience.
  • Pay channels from MWD such as MW2 and MWD3 are still in testing stage.
  • Right now MWD2 and MWD3 are airing Myanmar video movies and feature movies.
