Those who want to erect billboards, install signs, put up advertisements, stick up advertisements, or draw advertisements, in Yangon City area, at roads owned by Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC), lamp-posts, telephone line posts, bridges, land plots owned by Government departments and organizations, privately-owned land plots or building walls, motor vehicles and circular trains moving around the city area, need to apply for a permission of the YCDC, with sample of sign or advertisement attached. When an advertiser got the permission he has to pay the tax to the YCDC.
Tax would be exempted for advertising (details mentioned in the first paragraph) related to Government departments and organizations, and religious or social matters. The YCDC would check the toughness of signs and billboards and if they adversely affect the City’s prestige. And when it is needed to repair or redo the YCDC would direct the advertiser to do so. Anyone who made advertising (details mentioned in the first paragraph) without the YCDC’s permission would be dealt with according to the YCDC Law.
